My Color Analysis at Colorbrity Changed My Whole Makeup Bag

Earlier this year, my best friend and I booked a color analysis at Colorbrity in Koreatown, and it even included a makeup consultation! If you've never done one, they drape you in fabric swatches to see which colors make your skin glow and which ones wash you out.

Then came the plot twist. Turns out, all of my makeup products were very cool toned, and they recommended that I switch to warm-toned colors.

Why Warm Tones Scared Me (I'm a Silver Girl for Life)

This was a very daunting task for me. I normally tend to steer clear of warm tones. I'm a silver girl for life!

Swapping out a whole makeup bag of cool tones felt like a lot. So, as usual, I went down a weeks-long rabbit hole of research to find a warm blush I would actually love.

How I Found Surratt Artistique Liquid Blush in Classique

After weeks of searching, I fell upon Surratt's Artistique Liquid Blush in the shade Classique, which Surratt describes as a warm magenta. Surratt calls it "a vibrant liquid version of our classic powder blush".

And not only did I find it, I snagged the very last one in stock on FWRD, because it's been sold out on Surratt's site for a reason. It won Best Liquid Blush in my 50 Best of Beauty Awards.

The Packaging: A Chubby Stick With a Sponge Tip

When it arrived, I immediately fell in love with not only the product but also the packaging! It looks like a chubby stick, and you twist it to bring the formula up to a bouncy sponge tip. Surratt says the applicator was inspired by a bingo dauber, which I find so cute.

The sponge is what makes this blush so easy. It gives an effortlessly diffused look right on the cheek.

The Formula and That Warm Magenta Flush

The consistency and tone give the most stunning, warm magenta flush to the cheeks. Surratt describes the formula as a glimmering, luminous liquid with long-lasting pigment that's buildable and layerable, so you can keep it sheer or build it up.

If you're cool-toned and nervous about warm makeup like I was, a warm magenta is a gentle place to start. It still reads pink, just with the warmth your color analysis might be asking for.

How to Apply Liquid Blush for a Diffused Flush

  1. Twist the base until the formula reaches the sponge tip.

  2. Dab it onto the apples of your cheeks, starting with a little.

  3. Tap with the sponge to blend it out. Use your fingers or a brush if needed.

  4. Build up a second layer if you want more color.

Surratt also suggests layering it over its Artistique powder blush or blending it with its Torche Lumiere cream highlighter for extra glow.

Which Surratt Liquid Blush Shade Is Right for You?

This blush is for you if a color analysis told you to go warm, or if you just want a natural-looking flush in seconds. Surratt makes four shades (Surratt):

  • Classique (warm magenta): a warm flush that still reads pink. This is my pick!

  • Parfait (pinky coral): a softer warm pink.

  • Cantaloup (golden melon): the warmest, most golden option.

  • Barbe a Papa (cool bright pink): for staying cool-toned.

Classique Sold Out? Where to Buy It

Classique has been extremely, extremely hard to get. I snagged the last one on FWRD, and it's been sold out on Surratt's site. Surratt's product page has a form that emails you when it's back in stock.

I will keep tabs on a restock, but for now the other shades are worth exploring!

P.S. My other Surratt obsession is the Artistique Face Powder Brush.
