Diorshow 5 Couleurs: A Decade-Long Collector's Honest Take on Dior's Most Debated Eyeshadow Palette
Ten years, dozens of palettes, and one formula I still can't find a reason to replace!

I honestly have never understood the mixed reviews on Dior's eyeshadow palettes, because I've been an avid collector of them since high school. The shades always complement one another perfectly. Each palette is built around a curated harmony of five colors—usually a wash shade, a mid-tone, a deeper shade for definition, a highlight, and a pop of shimmer or metallic. They're designed to work together so you're never guessing how to combine them. It takes the thinking out of eye makeup, which is exactly what I want from a palette I'm reaching for during a rushed morning putting on my 3 minute Zoom face.
I find that the consistency delivers the ideal balance of pigment: it's buildable, true to tone, and easily blendable without being over-saturated or causing messy fallout on my face. That balance is harder to find than it sounds; a lot of palettes force you to choose between shadows so pigmented they're unforgiving to blend, or so sheer they barely show up. Dior's formula threads that needle. You can build the darker shades up gradually for more definition, or keep everything light and wearable for a soft daytime look, and either way it blends out smoothly instead of turning patchy or muddy.
What keeps me coming back, even after all these years, is how forgiving the formula is. It's pigmented enough to actually show up and make an impact, but not so intense that it becomes difficult to manage if you're still building your blending skills. That's a rare combination with eyeshadows—most palettes lean hard in one direction or the other.
I'm always open to new recommendations, and I've tried plenty of other palettes over the years. But for now, these still take the cake. If you've been on the fence because of mixed reviews, my honest take is that the actual wear experience—the texture, the blendability, the way the shades work together—speaks for itself far more than any review could.
